Anna Mitchell
Estherville – Services for Anna [Marie] Mitchell, 89, of Estherville will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville Thursday, February 16 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Glenn Bohmer officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died Monday, February 13 at the Good Samaritan Center.

Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, February 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born on January 16, 1906 in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of John and Doria (Mossman) Laue and received her education in the Martin County country schools and attended parochial school in Wilbert, Minn. She married John Roehler in Martin County. The couple lived in several places in Minnesota and Iowa before he died in 1937.

She was united in marriage to Clarence Mitchell on October 14, 1940 in Sioux Falls, S.D. They moved to Estherville in 1946 where she was employed at Sioux Valley Fish Line. She was later employed at Casa Loma Café in Estherville, retiring in 1985. Mr. Mitchell died in 1972. She has been a resident at Good Samaritan Center since 1990. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

She is survived by two sons, Merton Roehler of Evansville, Minn., Clarence Mitchell of Lake Park; three daughters, Lois Shaffer of Atwater, Minn.; JoAnn Stinehart of Rice Lake, Minn.; Mrs. Larry (Jean) Stinehart of Glendale, Ariz.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Leona) Schmidtke of Estherville, one daughter-in-law Phyllis Roehler of Estherville; 29 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Beckendorf of Ceylon, Minn.; and Eleanor Schultze of Ceylon.

She was preceded in death by both husbands, one daughter, two sons, two brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 15, 1995)
