To this union was born eight children, Vern, Raymond, Helen, Bernice, Burton, Albertus, Claud and Fred.
Her husband and all her children, except Albertus [Alberta Lucia, buried in East Side Cemetery, Estherville, IA], who died in infancy, were with her at the time of her death.
Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn her loss, two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Rhodes and Mrs. Louise Rogers, of Estherville, and two brothers, I.K. Hawk, of Boise, Idaho, and Chas. E. Hawk, of this city.
Mr. and Mrs. Mattson came to Estherville in 1879 where they lived for many years. For many years here and at Spencer, she practiced nursing. They moved to California in 1905 and after going through the great earthquake at San Francisco they moved to Spokane, Wash. and later to Seattle, Wash. Still later, going back to California where she lived for several years at Redlands, Calif., then because of failing health, they moved to Los Angeles.
When 12 years of age she united with the Church of Christ and was always an active member, teaching in the Sunday School where ever she lived.
While at Spokane, Wash., she served as city missionary for the Churches of Christ in that city.
There were in attendance at her funeral former Estherville friends now residing in Los Angeles: Mrs. Joe Richley and the Tom Gibbs family.
And thus ended on this earth a long Christian life of service and love. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, October 19, 1932)
