Estherville – Graveside services for Richard George Lyman, 85, of Estherville, will be held on Monday, August 30, at 10 a.m. at East Side Cemetery in Estherville, with Pastor Jack Peterson officiating. He died on Friday, August 27, 1993 at Holy Family Hospital. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville is in charge of arrangements.He was born on June 29, 1908 in Estherville, the son of George and Anna (Montgomery) Lyman. He received his education in the Estherville schools. On August 5, 1934, he was united in marriage to Ethel Cooper in Minneapolis, Minn. He lived and worked in Estherville until retiring from Rock Island Railroad. The couple then moved to San Angelo, Texas for 14 years, then moved to Illinois in 1986 to be near their daughter. He has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville. Memorials may be given to the Redeemer Lutheran Church where he was a charter member and active founder.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Lyman of Estherville; a son, Lee Lyman of Sandpoint, Idaho; a daughter, Mrs. Floyd (Lois) Linder, of Geneva, Ill.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, John Lyman of Estherville; a sister, Katheryn Lyman, of Estherville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 30, 1993)
