Funeral services for Caroline Loftis, 68, of Spirit Lake, were held Tuesday, Sept. 24, 1985, 1:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Estherville, with Rev. Paul Wigman officiating. Mrs. Loftis died Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Spirit Lake.Mrs. William (Caroline) Loftis was born June 10, 1917 at Chokio, Mn., the daughter of Emil and Caroline Lorenzen Lange. She completed her education at the Okoboji Consolidated School, in Milford.
On June 4, 1936 she married Walter Gosch at Lake Park. Two children were born to this union. She worked for Wadco Foods until 1975.
On July 25, 1969 she married William Loftis in Estherville. The couple lived on East Okoboji Beach in Spirit Lake.
Mrs. Lofis was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 3388 in Estherville.
Survivors include her husband, William of Spirit Lake; two sons, Gordon Gosch of Spirit Lake and Jim Loftis of Iowa Falls; three daughters, Wanda Huffman of Spirit Lake, Mrs. Clifford (Jean) Peta of Estherville and Mrs. Jerry (Edna) Payne of Iowa Falls; 17 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Lydia Miller of Park Rapids, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, September 26, 1985)
