Estherville – Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Estherville Lutheran Church for Mrs. Betty Jean Loewenberg, 53, who died at her mother’s home in Estherville Saturday.

The Rev. Kermit Rye will conduct the service with burial to follow at East Side Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Home in Estherville.

Mrs. Loewenberg was born Sept. 24, 1934 at Estherville, the daughter of LeRoy and Virginia (Hansen) Dahna. She received her education in the Estherville schools and was married to James Loewenberg March 17, 1951, at Jackson, Mn.

The deceased lived in Estherville, and Fergus Falls, Worthington, Albert Lea and Edina in Minnesota. She had been employed by the F.W. Woolworth Co., Sperry-Univac, and most recently at the V.F.W. in Estherville. She enjoyed bowling and sprint car races.

She had been a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church and Estherville VFW Auxiliary.

Surviving her are her mother, Mrs. Virginia Dahna of Estherville; a son, Gary Loewenberg and his wife, Mary of Albert Lea, and four grandchildren, Jeremy, James, Jens and Jay Loewenberg, all of Albert Lea.

Also surviving are two brothers, Raymond Dahna of Huntington, and Ronald Hansen of Fairmont, Minn.; three sisters, Lorraine (Mrs. Merlyn) Thrornburg of Estherville, Donna (Mrs. Dale) Port of Richmond, Va., and Darlene Olson of Estherville, and a special friend, Loyd (Bunny) Houseman of Estherville.

She was preceded in death by a son, Allen James, and her father. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 28, 1987)
