Estherville – Services for Gertrude Krough Wilkins, 80, will be held Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Estherville with Rev. Dr. John P. Besore III officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died Monday, Aug. 30, 1993 at the Good Samaritan Center.Friends may call from 5-8 pm. Wednesday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.
She was born Dec. 29, 1912 in Estherville, the daughter of Willis and Maude (Gerard) McAffee, and received her education and graduated from Estherville High School in 1930. May 10, 1931 she married Ralph Krough at Estherville. The couple lived in Maple Hill until 1969. He died Aug. 3, 1966. She was employed at L.M. Christensen and Co. in Estherville as a seamstress. In 1969 she moved to Mason City and worked at Damon’s Dept. Store and also the Skating Rink in Clear Lake. She married Harold Wilkins in November of 1971 at Mason City. He died in 1978. She moved to Armstrong in 1985 and lived until April 1991 when she became a resident of Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Estherville; Eagle’s Club and Grandmother’s Club at Mason City and the Armstrong Senior Citizens.
Survivors include one son Donald, of Nevada; daughters: Judith Krough of Sanford, N.C.; Mrs. John (Nancy) King of Albert Lea, Minn. and Mrs. Donald (Ginger) Knapp, of Armstrong; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters: Florence McAffee, Estherville and Dolly Noll, Colonial Beach, Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; three sisters and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 1, 1993)
