Ringsted – Services for Kenneth H. Olson, 79, of Ringsted, will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church south of Gruver with Pastor Jack Torgerson officiating. Interment will be in Swan Lake Township Cemetery, Estherville [Gruver]. He died Monday, Dec. 15, 1997 at his home in rural Ringsted.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

He was born May 29, 1918 in rural Ringsted, the son of Thomas and Martha (Anderson) Olson. He received his education in the rural country schools graduating from Estherville High School in 1935. He served in the United States Army from 1942-1945 during World War II. On Feb. 27, 1946, he was united in marriage to Katherine J. Brown in Wilmington, N.C. The couple lived all their married life on a farm in Jack Creek Township where he farmed until retiring in 1991. Mrs. Olson died Dec. 19, 1992.

He was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, south of Gruver and a past member of the Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Olson of West Des Moines, one sister, Elnora Madden of Ringsted and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 17, 1997)
