Clifford Saul
Chandler, Arizona – Services for Clifford Saul, 73, of Chandler, Ariz., formerly of Estherville, will be held Saturday at Union Baptist Church in Estherville with Pastor Brian Perry officiating. Interment will be in Swan Lake Cemetery, Gruver. He died Tuesday, April 1, 1996 at Scottsdale Memorial North Hospital.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral in Estherville.

He was born June 4, 1923 at New Hartford, Iowa, the son of Fred and Katherine Saul. He attended Hartford schools graduating from that high school in 1940. After high school he worked at John Deere Mfg. Co. until enlisting in the United States Army, 149th Engineers during World War II. After the war he attended Iowa State University at Ames, then worked for the National Forest Service in northern Minnesota. He married Mary Bryan on Nov. 22, 1943 at Farmington, Va. He moved to Estherville and worked as a farmer nine years then as an oil jobber for Phillips 66 Petroleum Co. He retired in 1987 and moved to Arizona in 1989. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of Chandler; son Michael of Mesa, Ariz.; daughter: Mrs. Thomas (Julie) Tretienero, Mesa and Joni Saul of Chandler; six grandchildren: Jason Saul, Chad Saul, Adam Dragoon, Jon Dragoon, Stephanie Holloway, Holly Hopper; great-grandson Noah Holloway; sisters: Vesta Schaefer, Redland, Calif.; Ruth Anderson, Highland, Calif. and Evelyn Collins, Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 3, 1997)
