Swea City – Services for Mrs. Brian (Jane) Hoien, 38, of Mesa, Ariz. will be held Monday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Swea City with Pastor Robert Kobler officiating. Interment will be in Swan Lake Cemetery, rural Gruver. She died Wednesday, March 17, 1993 at her home in Mesa.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service at the Church. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born June 27, 1954 at Estherville, the daughter of Maurice and Leona (Bryan) Drew and attended Swea City Schools where she was a high school graduate. She then attended Waldorf College at Forest City and Maricopa Community College in Mesa. On Mary 4, 1974 she married Brian Hoien at Swea City. Following marriage the couple moved to Hanford, Calif. where she trained and worked as a medical record technician. In 1976 they moved to rural Swea City, later rural Armstrong. In 1980 they moved to Pocahontas and in 1984 to Mesa. At the time of her death she was employed as a school nurse at Goodman Elementary School in Chandler, Ariz. She was a member of the St. Matthew Methodist Church in Mesa.

Survivors include her husband Brian, son Aaron and daughter Josie all of Mesa; her mother, Leona Drew, Swea City; father, Maurice Drew, Spirit Lake; sisters: Jacque Drew, Blue Earth and Jill Rotterman, Elmore, Minn.; her grandmother, Christine Drew, Estherville.

She was preceded in death by grandparents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 20, 1993)
