Estherville Man Dies Following Heart Attack
Lawrence Ullensvang, 60, of rural Estherville, died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at his home from a heart attack.

He was born Feb. 2, 1909, near Gruver, the son of Holjer and Guro Ullensvang. He received his education in rural Gruver schools and graduated from Estherville High School in 1927.

He was married July 5, 1941, to Maxine Bassett at Jacksonville, Mo.

He lived most of his life in Emmet County and had farmed for the last 22 years. He worked part time during the winters at Graves Grain Co. in Gruver.

He was a member of Immanuel Evangelical church south of Gruver.

Surviving are his wife, Maxine, a son, Thomas of Hartford, a daughter, Linda at home, a stepson, Gary Dean Best attending the University of Hawaii in Honolulu; two sisters, Mrs. Adolf Peterson of Estherville, and Gulla Ullensvang of Whittier, Calif.; two brothers, John and Stewart of rural Estherville; a niece, Mrs. Howard Grummon of Dayton, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran church south of Gruver, Rev. Morris E. Uhlring officiating. Burial will be in Swan Lake cemetery. Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home until noon on Friday.

Pallbearers will be Torger Winterton, Donald Quastad, Ed Timmons, Bernie Hardecopf of Armstrong, Harris Myers, and Harold Howard. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 3, 1969)
