Armstrong Man’s Rites Tuesday
Franklin Tooley, 84, Armstrong, died at 9:45 p.m. Nov. 1 at Valley Vue Nursing Home, Armstrong.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, Armstrong, with the Rev. Leslie Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Swan Lake Cemetery, south of Gruver.

Mr. Tooley was born Sept. 23, 1889 at Eagle Grove to Albert and Clara Tooley. He was educated in rural schools near Eagle Grove. He was never married. He farmed by Maple Hill until his retirement in 1962, when he moved into Armstrong.

He was a member of the American Legion and the United Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include one brother, Willie Tooley of Apache Junction, Ariz., and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and two sisters.

Servicing as pallbearers will be Everett Erickson, Virgil Preston, Gerald Walders, Mack McKean and Cal Jensen. Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Armstrong, is in charge of arrangements. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 12, 1973)
