Estherville – Services for Velva Evaline Aanestad Winterton will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church south of Gruver with the Rev. William Runaas officiating. Interment will be in Swan Lake Cemetery. She died Tuesday, April 23, 1991 at Respite Care, Fairmont Community Hospital, Fairmont, Minn.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville after 4 p.m. Thursday.

She was born Oct. 29, 1909 at Sherman, S.D., the daughter of Carl and Christine (Larsen) Aanestad and attended Sherman schools; she graduated from Augustana College in 1929. June 12, 1931 she married Torger Winterton at Sherman. She taught school in Brookings County, S.D. and in 1935 moved to a farm near Gruver where they have continued to live. She taught Sunday School many years and was church organist for six years. She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband, Torger, rural Estherville; two daughters: Mrs. Larry (Lois) Willard, Fairmont and Mrs. Russell (Marcia) Moffitt, Albert Lea, Minn.; one son, Robert of Cherokee; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Carl Aanestad, Artesia, Calif. and Dean Aanestad, Casper, Wyo.

She was preceded in death by one grandson; parents; one brother and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 25, 1991)
