F. Sevold Dies; Rites to Be Monday
Francis Sevold, 53, lifetime resident of this area, died Friday afternoon at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., where he had been a patient for the past few weeks. His death was caused by cancer.

Francis Austin Sevold was born April 24, 1915, at Armstrong to Nels and Mabel Sevold. He received his education in Armstrong and Maple Hill and graduated from high school in Maple Hill.

He was married Nov. 25, 1937, to Lucille Anderson of Swea City. Mr. and Mrs. Sevold spent their married life in the Swea City, Maple Hill and Estherville areas.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy for three years, 1942-1945.

Mr. Sevold was a member of the former Maple Hill Presbyterian Church and in later years attended the First Presbyterian Church in Estherville.

For the past nine years, he had been a custodian in the Estherville School system.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, James, who is serving with the United States Navy in Japan, and John, a student at Mankato State College, Mankato, Minn.; three grandchildren, Cynthia, Debra and James, Jr., Sevold, who with their parents are living in Japan; two brothers, Leo of Maple Hill and Amos of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and one sister, Marjorie Sevold of Dearborn, Mich.

James, who received emergency leave from the Navy because of his father’s illness, is still here but will leave Tuesday to return to Japan.

Funeral services for Mr. Sevold will be Monday at 2 pm. at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, Rev. H. Allen Wirtz officiating. Burial will be in the Swan Lake Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home all day Sunday and until time of services on Monday.

Pallbearers will be W.C. Hilburn, W.B. Hammer, George D. Lambertson, Walter Nelsen, Howard Hanson, and Albert Theesfeld. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 4, 1968)
