Estherville – Services for Edwin C. [Chris] Juhl, 86, of Estherville, will be held Saturday at the Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m. with Dr. John Besore III officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery, Estherville. He died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1993 at Holy Family Hospital. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.He was born in Estherville April 25, 1907, the son of Eric and Caroline (Hansen) Juhl and attended country school in Emmet County. On Dec. 4, 1930 he was united in marriage with Vivian Murley at Aurora, Ill. He farmed many years in the Estherville and in 1975 retired and the couple moved into Estherville. He served on the board of the D.E.K. board of directors for 25 years; worked for Emmet County Soil Conservation Service; on the board of Farmers Land Bank and Emmet County Rural Telephone Co.; he served on the school boards of the Blom Country School and Gruver Community School. He was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church in Estherville where he served as a deacon and usher for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian of Estherville; two daughters: Mrs. Jack (Beverly) Hasslinger, Spirit Lake; Mrs. Merlin (Marlene) Twito, Estherville; one daughter-in-law, Mary Anita Juhl of Estherville; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one sister, Dorothy Gustafson, of Estherville.
He was preceded in death by one son, Erwin; one infant granddaughter; his parents and one brother, Clarence. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 2, 1993)
