Estherville has been the home for Clarence Gregres Juhl since his birth just after the turn of the century on January 4, 1905 to Eric and Caroline Hansen Juhl. As a boy Clarence attended the Blom Country School and later Estherville High School. Perhaps the most significant event in his life outside Estherville occurred on December 4, 1930 in Aurora, Illinois when Clarence made Virginia G. Murley his bride. The couple lived their married life, farmed and raised their family in the Estherville area. Clarence retired in 1973 and he and Virginia moved into the city in 1985. Clarence was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Estherville, the Emmet County Farm Bureau and was active in area Senior Citizen groups.

Survivors include his wife Virginia,; three sons: Arvin R. Juhl and Dale G. Juhl both of Estherville and Dennis C. Juhl of Euclid, Ohio; a brother, Edwin C. Juhl of Estherville; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Gustafson; eight grandchildren; Gordon, Mark, Steve and Scott Juhl; Gloria Nourse, Mary Welch and Phyllis Martens; three step-grandchildren: Jeff, Kristy and Wade Kaltvedt; and seven great-grandchildren: Eric, Marcus and Travis Juhl, Adam and Sarah Nourse, Morgan Welch and Leah Martens.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 22, 1991)
