Estherville – Mrs. Christena M. Juhl, 88, Estherville, died Saturday [April 8, 1978] morning at the Good Samaritan Center, Estherville, where she had been a resident since Wednesday.Services for Mrs. Juhl will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Estherville, with the Rev. R. B. Flentgen officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery.
Friends may call at Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville until noon Tuesday, when the body will be taken to the church.
Born Jan. 23, 1890, at Lincoln, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Peters. She received her education in Reinbeck schools and was married to Christian P. Juhl Nov. 24, 1909, at Reinbeck.
The couple moved to Emmet County in 1923 and farmed west of Estherville. Following Mr. Juhl’s death in 1961, she lived alone until entering the Good Samaritan Home Wednesday.
Mrs. Juhl was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Estherville, a charter member of the Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Guild, member of the Crescent Club and Four Mile Lake Club.
She is survived by two sons, Lawrence Juhl and Dale C. Juhl, both of Estherville; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Buhr and Mrs. Ryan (Carrie) Hoffmeyer both, of Estherville, and Mrs. Florence Hoffmeyer and Mrs. Bill (Maxine) Mahin, both of Chula Vista, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchldren; and one sister, Mrs. John (Mary) Brandhorst, Reinbeck.
Mrs. Juhl was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter, one brother and four sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 10, 1978)
