Estherville – Harry Jones, 84, Estherville, died Tuesday evening, March 14, at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Services for Mr. Jones will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Christian Church, Estherville, with the Rev. James L. Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with military graveside services.

Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, after 10 a.m. Friday.

He was born Sept. 3, 1893 to Mr. and Mrs. Austin Jones at Plymouth, Wisc. and he received his early education there. Later the family moved to Dickinson County, Iowa, where he finished his education.

On Aug. 18, 1917 he married Eva Omundson at Wilmar, Minn. Mr. Jones served in the armed force in WWI and after his return he farmed for a short time near Estherville. The couple moved into town and he was a member of the police force.

Later Mr. Jones worked for many years at the Mahlum-Anderson Furniture Store and Funeral Home. When it became Martin Furniture he continued at the store. After working there several years he went into the floor covering business for himself. His wife, Eva, passed away Feb.2 4, 1973.

He was a member of the American Legion

His survivors include one son, Richard, Sparks, Nev.; one daughter, Mrs. Lars (Olive) Anderson, Estherville; a sister, Mrs. Ted (Alice) Mathison, Estherville, 12 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, one brother and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 16, 1978)
