Estherville – Services for Ivy [May] Johnson, 95, of Estherville, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church with Dr. Mike Thiel officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. She died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1992 at Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call from 9 – 11 a.m. Friday at the First Christian Church.

She was born Dec. 21, 1896 at Booneville, the daughter of Orlando and Elizabeth (Hurst) Platter and attended county schools. She married Martin Johnson April 4, 1917 at Ruthven. The couple lived and farmed near Terril, Lady Smith, Wis. and Hunter, N.D. They moved to Estherville in 1929 and she worked at City Hall as a custodian. She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Murray (Donna) Lenz of Tok, Alaska; three sons: Marvin (Bud) of Estherville; James of Spencer and Larry of Neenah, Wis.; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers; one sister, one son and one daughter. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 17, 1992)
