Erik J. Jacobson Dropped Dead n Streets Sat. Eve.
Probably heat caused the heart attack which took the life of Eric Jacobson at the corner of Sixth and Lincoln in front of the Sanborn Grocery last Saturday [July 25, 1936] night. At least it is said Mr. Jacobson had worked hard that day in the sun which probably overcame him.

He was standing talking to a friend when he took hold of him for support and then crumpled to the sidewalk. A crowd gathered and the police car which was at hand, rushed him to the Coleman hospital. When they arrived Jacobson was placed on a cot and work was commenced getting his shoes off. While they were doing this Dr. Clark, who arrived at that time from the operating room, said Mr. Jacobson had passed away.

Mr. Jacobson had resided in this county for many years and lately had been employed on a grading gang. He was a healthy looking man and there was no sign of any ailment, which indicated that he had probably been overcome by the intensive heat. Mr. Jacobson was 57 years of age.

The funeral services were held on Tuesday from the Mahlum and Anderson chapel at one-thirty and the Estherville Lutheran Church at two o’clock with Rev. Peder Nordsletten officiating. Interment was made in the Oak Hill Cemetery [per cemetery records – East Side]. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, July 29, 1936)
