Estherville – Services for John (Johnny) Carl Isebrand, 7, will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church with Dr. Robert Kunz officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery with military graveside services by the VFW and American Legion Posts. He died Monday, May 1, 1989 at Holy Family Hospital.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 3 – 9 p.m. Wednesday.

He was born July 17, 1913 at German Valley, Kossuth County, Iowa, the son of Carl and Elsie (Sleper) Isebrand. He attended Ledyard, Ia. Elementary School. On Feb. 19, 1948 he married Nettie LaPierre Morris at Jackson, Minn. He lived in the Estherville-Dolliver area most of his married life except 15 years in Minnesota. He did carpentry work for Moeller-Jones Const. Co., also farmed. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Life member of VFW and DAV; Greater Midwest Driving Club and National Rifle Association. He served with the U.S. Army from 1942-45 in World War Two.

Survivors include his wife Nettie, Estherville; two sons John Jr., Estherville and Sen. Mst. Sgt. Robert, Great Falls, Mont.; two daughters: Mrs. Harold (Dolores) Thompson, Ceylon, Minn. and Mrs. Don (Audrey) Morris, Dolliver; ten grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; eight sisters: Mrs. Charles (Leona) Kline, Chatfield, Minn., Mrs. Richard (Ada) Williams; Mrs. Verne (Anita) Barlow, Mrs. Harold (Elsie) Selberg, Mrs. Andrew (Tillie) Graff and Mrs. Harry (Annie) Schroeder, all of Estherville; Mrs. Forrest (Sena) McGregor, Buffalo Center and Mrs. Frances Beitz, Algona; five brothers: Andrew and Otto Swalve, Estherville; Ellsworth (Doc) Swalve, LeMars; Evert Swalve, Buffalo Center and Richard Swalve, Graettinger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father; one brother; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 3, 1989)
