Was Newspaper Employee for 57 Years
Henry Ingertson, the son of Bessie and Ingabrit Ingertson was born July 19, 1886 at Nevada, Iowa, and lived most of his life in Webster City. He died at his home in Estherville March 29, 1956 at the age of 69 years, 7 months, 29 days. Immediate cause of death was due to a heart attack. Mr. Ingertson was hospitalized off and on since Dec. 4, suffering from cancer and other complications.

He was a veteran of 57 years of newspaper employment. He started as a carrier boy for the Webster City Freeman – Journal and in 1901 became an apprentice in the Freeman – Journal shop. Within one year he became foreman and spent 42 years with the Freeman – Journal.

He was united in marriage with Cora Shaw of Boone, Iowa, on Oct. 31, 1942. At this time they moved to Estherville where Mr. Ingertson had joined the staff of the Daily News. He worked here until his retirement in 1953.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rena Johnson Ingertson in 1938, his parents, three sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include his widow, Cora, one foster daughter, Mrs. Richard Dickerson of Whittier, Calif.; four foster grandchildren; two step daughters, Mrs. Harold Brazee and Mrs. R.E. Russell, both of Estherville; one step son, Robert Shaw of Sioux City, five grandchildren, two brothers, Charles of Los Angeles and Harry of Webster City.

Prayer services were conducted April 2 from Sternborg’s funeral home at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Harrison Dawes officiating. Services were held from the Trinity Lutheran church of Webster City at 2:30 pm. with Pastor Clemmons officiating. Burial was at the Graceland cemetery in Webster City.

Pall bearers for the service were Roy Dunlap, D.J. Novak, Robert Erickson, Charles Ward, Richard Woodward and Francis Stumbo. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 18, 1956)
