William Hudson
Graettinger – Service for William Eugene “Gene” Hudson, 94, will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, with Reverend David Biddle, officiating. Interment will be held in East Side Cemetery. He died Friday, May 16, 1992 at the Emmetsburg Care Center.

Friends may call the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday.

He was born August 14, 1897 at Rush Hill, Missouri, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Tratchel) Hudson, and attended Rush Hill and Martinsburg, Missouri schools. He was united in marriage to Helen Andre on September 28, 1927 in Estherville. He moved to the Ringsted-Graettinger area in 1924 where he worked as a farm hand for several years. In 1939, the family moved to a farm northwest of Estherville where he farmed until 1962. In 1964 he moved to Graettinger where he lived with his brother, Frank, until 1982 when they moved to the Emmetsburg Care Center. He was a veteran of World War I, and served in the United States Army.

Survivors include his three sons, Duane Hudson, Estherville, Donald Hudson, Lake Park, Florida, and Ivan Hudson, Pacifica, California; two sisters, Shirley Johnson, Ames, and Maxine Nelson, Linn Grove; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, two brothers, and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 18, 1992)
