Mrs. Wayne Hunter Dies at Age of 66
Mrs. Wayne (Cecile Martha) Hunter, 66, died at 2:25 this morning at Holy Family Hospital of a heart condition and complications. Mrs. Hunter was admitted to the hospital yesterday after six months of illness, the last six weeks of which had grown serious.Born Feb. 16, 1896 at Alden, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Palmer, Mrs. Hunter attended the Alden schools. She also attended Highland Park College at Des Moines.
She was married Oct. 24, 1916 to Wayne E. Hunter at Alden. Following the marriage Mr. and Mrs. Hunter made their home in Iowa City and upon moving from Iowa City, they lived for 13 years at Littleport. They came to Estherville in 1943 from West Branch.
Mrs. Hunter was the past president of the Degree of Honor and a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne, of Estherville, two daughters Mrs. Lowell (Dorothy) Zapf of Littleport, Mrs. Gilbert (Charlotte) Montour of Falls Church, Va., and one son, Kenneth Hunter of Estherville. Six granddaughters and five grandsons also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services are set for Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Sternborg-Reese Chapel. The Rev. William R. Noland will officiate with burial in East Side Cemetery.Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Wednesday morning until time of services on Thursday.
