Estherville – Services for Richard Hopkins, 59, of Estherville, will be held Monday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Arlyn Norris officiating. Interment will be in East Side Memorial Cemetery [East Side, per gravemarker] at Estherville with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91. He died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998 t McKennan Hospital at Sioux Falls, S.D.Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until time for service at the funeral home.
He was born July 30, 1939 at Salisbury, Md., the son of Howard and Lydia Hopkins. He attended Maryland schools. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked in Hebron, Md. many years at Dresser Wayne Inc. In the last 20 years since moving to Iowa he worked at numerous jobs.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Worms, Estherville; daughters Patricia Cockey, and Teresa Easton, Md., three grandchildren; mother Lydia Hitchens and brother. H.J. Hopkins. He was preceded in death by his father. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 10, 1998)
