Estherville – Funeral services for Clara Mae Holmgren, 80, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 25 at Calvary Gospel Assembly with Pastors Ernest Gafkjen and David L. Meyer officiating. Interment will be held at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died on Thursday, September 21, at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born on November 15, 1914 in Gregory, S.D., the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Esterling) Faatz. At age 2 she move with her parents to a farm five miles northwest of Butte, Neb. and attended country school in Boyd County, Neb. until the 8th grade, and later graduated from Butte High School in 1937. In 1938, she came to Estherville where she was employed with two farm families in Emmet County until her marriage.

She was united in marriage to Gustav Holmgren on June 4, 1939 at Spirit Lake. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Estherville. Mr. Holmgren died on September 28, 1987.

She was a member of the Calvary Gospel Assembly in Estherville where she served as the church pianist for many years.

She is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Holmgren of Estherville; Karen Holmgren of Estherville; one son, Kenneth of St. Paul, Minn.; three grandchildren; one sister, Edith Frasch of Butte, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers and four sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 23, 1995)
