Steven Bruce Hoien, the son of Bruce and Melba (Foster) Hoien, was born November 14, 1953, in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at Rosewood Manor in Estherville at the age of 53 years, five months and twenty-seven days.
He received his education in the Estherville schools.

Steve was employed at ECHO and later ECHO PLUS in Estherville since 1974. He retired in March of 2007, due to failing health. He had a great love for bowling and music, especially the "Oldies." He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was a member of the First Christian Church in Estherville.

Left to cherish Steve's memory are his mother, Melba Hoien of Estherville; three sisters, Kathy Sawtzky and her husband, Don of Janesville, Wisconsin; Nancy Beck of Tea, South Dakota; Patricia Dalen and her husband, Duane of Oreana, Illinois: one brother, Jim Hoien and his wife, Christine of Lees Summit, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.

Preceding Steve in death were his father; grandparents and uncles.

The family prefers in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be directed to Avera Holy Family Hospice, ECHO PLUS or the American Cancer Society.
