Estherville – Services for Luther William Herrick, 64, will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Mavis of Union Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Wednesday, May 3, 1989 at Holy Family Hospital.

He was born Sept. 21, 1924 at Callender, the son of John and Lillie (Galvin) Herrick. He attended the state school for the blind in Vinton. He lived in Dana and Grand Junction before moving to Graettinger-Estherville area in the early 1950s. In 1948 he married Ella Mae Thoreson at Jackson. She died March 18, 1984. He has been an employee of ECHO in Estherville since 1974. He was a member of Union Baptist Church.

He is survived by one brother, Frank, Phoenix, Ariz. and two sisters: Marvel Williams, Ventura, Calif. and Phyllis Hunter, Oxnard, Calif.; and a half-sister: Nadine Herrick, Filmore, Saskatchewan, Canada.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 6, 1989)
