Estherville – Services for Dale George Higgins, 46, Sioux City, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Estherville Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Jolivette of Redeemer Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Monday, Aug. 24, 1987 at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center, Sioux City.

Friends may call at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville from 4-9 p.m. Thursday.

He was born March 31, 1941 at Estherville, the son of Carl and Bonnie (Stapleton) Higgins and attended Estherville Schools. On June 9, 1963, he was united in marriage with Judy Sampson at Estherville. Higgins was owner of an IGA Store in Leeds.

Survivors include his wife, Judy, son Christopher and daughter Heidi at home; daughters Cindy Higgins with the U.S. Army in Germany and Mrs. Tony (Karl) Moffitt, Sioux City; one grandson; his mother, Bonnie Higgins, Spirit Lake; six brothers: Harold, Spirit Lake; Kenneth and William, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Michael, Sioux City; Jerry, Custer, S.D. and Glen, Wilmar, Minn.; seven sisters: Mrs. Betty Janssen, Dunnell, Minn.; Mrs. Russell (Emma Jean) Planting and Mrs. Ward (Shelley) Harsin, Estherville; Lois Michelson and Mrs. Vern (Leticia) Scott, Spirit Lake; Mrs. Ted (Mary) Thelen and Mrs. Mike (Carla) Long, Colorado Springs.

He was preceded in death by his father and brothers.

Services were held Wednesday at Sioux City with the Nelson-Berger Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 27, 1987)
