Estherville – Ella Mae Thoreson, 79, Estherville, died Sunday, March 18, 1984, at her home in Estherville.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, with the Rev. Dan Swenson officiating. Interment will be in the East Side Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday and up until the time of the services on Wednesday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home.
Ella Mae Thoreson, the daughter of Charles and Anna Thoreson, was born Jan. 1, 1905 in Lost Island Township, near Graettinger. She received her education in the Lost Island schools.
She married Fred Blake, and later Gilbert Knutson. Then, in 1948, she married Luther Herrick at Jackson, Minn. They lived in Graettinger for a time, and then moved to Estherville nine years ago. She worked in nursing homes in Estherville and was a member of the Union Baptist Church, Estherville.
She is survived by Luther Herrick; two sons, Eugene Blake, Woodward, and Earl Blake, Clarkson, Wash.; two grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Huff, Everly, Rosie VanHolten, Iowa City; four brothers, Leo Thoreson, Spencer, Carl Thoreson, Spencer, Bernard Thoreson, Minneapolis, Minn., and Albert Thoreson, Park Rapids, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, three brothers and three sisters. (Estherville Publications Spirit Edition, Estherville, IA, March 20, 1984)
