Estherville – Funeral services for Vera I. Henninsen, 81, of Estherville will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 27 at the United Methodist Church in Estherville with the Rev. Lynn Porter officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died Saturday, Oct. 25 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.Visitation was held Sunday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home.
Vera Irene Gillett, the daughter of Albert and Olga (Ludvigsen) Gillett, was born Aug. 5, 1922, in Estherville, Iowa.
She received her education in the Estherville schools and graduated from Estherville High School.
She was married on April 22, 1942, in Liberty, Mo., to Elmer Henningsen and to this union three children were born. They lived in Moline, Ill., for two years where they worked in defense factories. They then moved back to Estherville where they farmed for many years. She also worked at Berkley’s fishline factory for 22 years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville.
Vera is survived by her two children, Cheryl Halbur of Arnold’s Park, Iowa; Bruce Henningsen of Estherville; two grandchildren, Mathew Hovey and Rusty Naber; and one sister, Virginia Gillett of Amarillo, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband; one son, Leonard; parents; two brothers; and four sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 27, 2003)
