George Helmick
Estherville – Services for George Fred Helmick, 70, were held Saturday morning at the Henry and Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Paul Wiegman of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Interment was in East Side Cemetery. He died Wednesday, Feb 6, 1985 at Holy Family Hospital.

Helmick was born July 26, 1914 near Armstrong, the son of William and Marie (Werling) Helmick. He attended Armstrong and Dolliver schools. On July 27, 1936, he was united in marriage with Marjorie Strohman at Estherville. He lived most of his life in Emmet County. A resident of Estherville for many years he was employed by Tobin Packing Co., farmed and later worked for the Associated Milk Producer, Inc. of Whittemore until his retirement in 1974.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie, Estherville; three daughters: Mrs. Joseph (Lola) Burt, Mrs. Curtis (Arlene) Lappegard, Estherville and Mrs. Casper (Delores) Lappegard, Superior; three sons: Marvin Helmick, Tomah, Wis., David and James Helmick, Estherville; 23 grandchildren; 23 greatgrandchildren; two brothers: Floyd and William Helmick, Jr., Estherville; two sisters: Mrs. Alfred (Eldora) Olson, Armstrong and Mrs. William (Leona) Carrison, Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons Arnold and Kenneth; three grandchildren; two brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 9, 1985)
