Tomah, Wis. – Funeral services for Marvin Eugene Helmich, 59, of Tomah, Wis., formerly of Estherville, will be held at the First Congregational Church of Christ in Tomah with Pastor Edwin Stigen officiating. Interment with military honors by the Tomah V.F.W. Post 1382 will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Tomah. He died Friday, May 14 at his home after battling cancer.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the White Funeral Home in Tomah and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

He was born on Dec. 28, 1939, in Iowa to George and Marjorie (Strohman) Helmick. He served in the Armed Forces from 1958 to 1960 in France.

On April 15, 1957, he was united in marriage to Janice Jolene Brobsted of Graettinger. To their union were born six children.

He is survived by his mother, Marjorie of Estherville; four sons, Brian of Fayetteville, N.C., Blair (Lisa) o Cairnleigh, Texas, Brett (Tammy) of The Woodlands, Texas; Boyd (Roxanne) of Sherwood, Wis.; two daughters, Mrs. Pat (Dureen) Neppl of Manchester; and Mrs. Frank (DeAnne) Rezac of Dolliver; two brothers, David (Carol) of Graettinger; James (Linda) of Estherville; two sisters, Mrs. Joe (Lola) Burt of Estherville; and Mrs. Casper (Delores) Lappegard of Superior; 11 grandchildren; one great grandson and special friend Judy Hauge and family of Tomah.

He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 15, 1999)

Note: Marvin was apparently moved to East Side Cemetery, Estherville. His gravestone is there.
