Estherville – Services for Darwood Robert Helmers, 48, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Richard Berger officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Monday, July 9, 1990 at McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday.

He was born Dec. 20, 1941 at Estherville, the son of John and Alvera (Prust) Helmers and attended Ringsted and Estherville schools. In April, 1960 he was married to Ellen Larsen at Estherville. On Sept. 13, 1966 he was married to Linda Christensen at Sioux Falls, S.D. He lived all his life in the Estherville and Armstrong area.

Survivors include his wife Linda, Estherville; his mother Alvera Helmers, Estherville; two sons, Tim and tom of Armstrong; two daughters: Mrs. Brent (Tammy) Helmich, Houston, Tex. And Mrs. Lyndon (Tiffany) Johnson, Swea City; one step-daughter, Cindy Murra, Estherville; four grandchildren; two brothers: Larry Helmers, Estherville and Russell Helmers, Haysville, Kans. and one sister, Janice Stade, Welcome, Minn.
