Hannah Sherman Barber Osborne
Hannah Sherman Barber was born in Richmond, Wisconsin, October 14, 1853, and died at the City Hospital in Estherville March 25, 1918.She was converted and united with the Baptist church in 1871. In 1875 she came to Emmet county. On October 31, 1877, she was united in marriage to George Osborne. They lived on a farm on the state line for about ten years and then moved to Estherville where they have lived continuously until she was called to her Eternal reward. Four children have been given to Mr. and Mrs. Osborne: Mrs. J.H. Burrier of Estherville; John Osborne who has been in the United States army for the past thirteen years and at present is “Somewhere in France” in Battery B of the Automobile Air Craft Battalion as a sharpshooter; Mrs. T.M. Thompson of Sioux City; and George Osborne, who died October 9, 1904. Besides the children, Mrs. Osborne is survived by her husband, four grandchildren, four brothers, John, Albert, Charley and George Barber and one sister, Mrs. Ann Rewey.
Besides those she leaves a large number of other relatives and hosts of neighbors and friends who will all miss her very much. She had suffered much during the last years of her life and as much as she loved her relatives and friends would not wish her back if she had she had to continue to suffer.
The funeral services were conducted from the home by Rev. J. Frederic Catlin of the Union Baptist church. Comforting songs were sung by Mesdames Wing and No end the body was laid to rest in the East Side Cemetery.
