Superior – Services for Amelia [Catherine] Harris, 86, of Superior, will be held Tuesday, March 17 at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Estherville with the Rev. Larry Willey officiating. Interment will be in the East Side Cemetery in Estherville. She died Saturday at her home.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born Nov. 2, 1911 at Huntington, the daughter of Herman and Minnie (Munsterman) Harvego.

She moved with her family as a very young girl to Motley, Minn. She received her education in the Motley schools.

On Jan. 21, 1933, she was united in marriage to Roy Harris in Motely. Following their marriage, the couple farmed near Dunnell, Minn. and later near Lakefield, Minn. before returning to Martin County in 1944. In 1951, the couple moved to a farm in Emmet County, where they farmed until moving to Superior.

She was employed as a nurse’s aide at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville for fifteen years.

She was a member of the Huntington and Superior United Methodist Churches, the UMW and several community clubs in Superior.

She is survived by four sons: Harlen Harris of Haywarden, Ronald Harris of Estherville, Leland Harris of Estherville, and Robert Harris of Story City; daughter Mrs. Robert (Karen) Ayers of Orlando, Fla.; thirty grandchildren, forty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great –grandchildren.

She has been preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandchild and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 16, 1998)
