Estherville – Services for Cyril “Cy” Haberman, 58, will be at 11:00 a.m. today at the Henry-Fuhrman-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with the Rev. John Besore III of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91. Mr. Haberman died Thursday, May 11, 1989 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Cyril “Cy” Francis Haberman was born to Francis Joseph and Sophia (Frey) Haberman on September 8, 1930 at Lime Springs, Minnesota. He graduated from Estherville High School in 1948 and joined the National Guard after graduation. In 1951 he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1951 until 1971. While in the Marines he served in Japan, Okinawa and Vietnam. Following his retirement from the Marines he returned to Estherville where he has made his home since. He was a member of VFW Post 3388.

Survivors include two brothers: Leland Haberman of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Donald Haberman of Denver, Colo. and four sisters: Mrs. Roy (Marie) Wilhelms, Mrs. Mildred Rosberg, Mrs. Elmer P. (Loretta) Peterson and Eleanor Reighard, all of Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Elvera. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 13, 1989)
