Milford – Services for Mervin J. Grems, 56, of Milford, formerly of Estherville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, Estherville, with the Rev. Dr. John Besore, III officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery with military graveside services by V.F.W. Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville. He died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1992, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville from 4-8 p.m., Thursday.
He was born October 18, 1935 at Gruver, the son of Lester and Mary Alice (Carey) Grems and attended Gruver School. In 1955 he was married to Dolores Reynolds at Manson. The couple lived in Manson where he was employed by the Police Department. In 1961 the couple moved to Estherville where he worked at Estherville Sand and Gravel. In 1977 he moved to Spirit Lake then Milford in 1986. He was currently employed as a regional salesperson for AW Dynamometer out of Colfax, Ill. He also owned and operated a service company called Dyno Tech in Milford.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and V.F.W. Post 3388. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Korea.
He is survived by two sons: Tom, of Estherville and Mike of Milford; three daughters: Mrs. Ike (Deb) Peterson of Graettinger, Mrs. Dave (Joan) Evans, Des Moines and Jane Wells, Milford; his father, Lester, of Estherville; his fiancée, Sheila Smidt, Milford; nine grandchildren; four brothers: twin brother Marvin, of Boone, Jim of Detroit, Bob of Estherville and Randy of Faribault, Minn.; two sisters: Mrs. Elmer (Marlyn) Friesner, and Mrs. Walter (Charlene) Arndt both of Shelton, Wash.
