Death at 72 for Glasnapp
Alex H. [Herman] Glasnapp, 72, longtime Emmet County farmer, died at 8:30 a.m. yesterday at Holy Family Hospital, where he was taken after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage at home Saturday.He was born May 10, 1893, at Lytton, to Edward and Wilhelmina Glasnapp. He received his education in Sac County schools.
Feb. 28, 1917, he was married to Marie Ditzel at Lytton. They farmed in Calhoun County until 1928, when they moved to a farm near Ringsted.
Mr. and Mrs. Glasnapp later moved to a farm just east of the Estherville city limits, where they have lived ever since.
Their farm house and yard became somewhat of a landmark to area residents as it was one of the most brilliantly decorated local homes at Christmas time.
Mr. Glasnapp served as a church usher and treasurer of the Sunday School at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ringsted for many years. When he moved to Estherville, he became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Mr. Glasnapp is survived by his wife; two sons, Raymond of Kansas City, Mo. and Allen of Ringsted; one daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Irene) Montz of Estherville; 11 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Emma Leege of Fonda; and two brothers, Carl of Lytton and Albert of Fargo, N.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rev. W.H. Discher officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery.
Pallbearers are five grandsons: David Montz, Eldon Montz, Roger Montz, Randy Glasnapp and Herbert Glasnapp, and one nephew, Arthur Leege.
Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home from noon today until noon tomorrow when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 29, 1965
