Estherville – Funeral services for Kenneth W. Bixby, 87, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2001 at the First Presbyterian Church in Estherville with the Reverend Mark Gabbard officiating. Interment will be held at East Side Cemetery in Estherville. He died on Wednesday, March 7 at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.

Visitation will be held today from 4-8 p.m. at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville with Masonic Services at 7:30 p.m. by North Star Lodge #447.

Kenneth was born on March 20, 1913 in Estherville, the son of John and Etta (Johnson) Bixby. He has lived all of his life in Estherville and received his education in the Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School in 1932. He also attended Estherville Junior College and graduated in 1934.

On June 20, 1937, Kenneth was united in marriage to Fae Albertson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple lived their married life in Estherville.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II, from Feb. 21, 1945 until his discharge on March 6, 1946.

Kenneth was employed by the Pfaff Baking Company and later Betsy Ross and Sunbeam Baking as a supervisor and sales representative. He was later a sales representative for Thomas Motors and then an investment representative for Edward D. Jones from 1965 until his retirement.

Fae passed away on Dec. 22, 1984.

On Jan. 31, 1987, Kenneth was united in marriage to Velma White at the First Presbyterian Church in Estherville.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the V.F.W. #3388, the North Star Masonic Lodge #447 and the Estherville Booster Club.

Kenneth enjoyed playing golf and all athletic events.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Bixby of Estherville; one son, Jack Bixby and his wife, Judy of Estherville; one daughter, Beth Ricke and her husband, Jim of Estherville; five grandchildren and one great grandchild, Brenda Bixby of Minneapolis, Minn., Brad Bixby and his wife, Alissa and their child, Casey of Springfield, Ill., Brian Bixby of Milford, Jay Ricke and his wife, Danielle of West Des Moines, Jill Ricke of Peachtree City, Ga.; one sister, Bonnie Seibel and her husband, David of Kenilworth, Ill.; four step-children, Diane Brower and her husband, Gary of Red Oak, Marcia Benit and her husband, Brad of Spirit Lake, Robert White and his wife Jackie of Spirit Lake, Lori Smith and her husband, Gary of Estherville; ten step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren: Greg Brower and his wife, Shelle and their children Zachary and Ashley of Red Oak, Kipp Brower of Altaloma, Calif., Elizabeth Brower of Iowa City, Sara Butler and her husband, Chad and their children, Ryan and Bailey of North Liberty, Kelly Benit of Ames, Matt White of Estherville, Jennie White of Maryville, Mo. and Paige, Derek and Kyle Smith of Estherville.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Fae, parents and three sisters, Marian, Betty and Carol Lee. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 9, 2001)
