Archie Bixby Services Set
Archie R. Bixby, 86, Des Moines, former Estherville resident, died at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday [May 5, 1971] at the Don Bixby home in Des Moines, where he had been living since October, 1969.

He was born June 11, 1884, at Estherville to Mr. and Mrs. Lumin and Ellen Wells Bixby. He received his education in the Estherville schools.

He was married Jan. 7, 1912 [1914], to Lillian West at Estherville. He lived all of his life in Estherville, except for the last couple of years when he went to live with his son at Des Moines. He was a carpenter by trade.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Estherville and a member of the United Methodist Church. His wife died in December, 1953.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Bunetta Paton, Glen Burnie, Md.; Mrs. Merle (Lavohn) Scribner, Des Moines; one son, Don Bixby, West Des Moines; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home in Estherville, with the Rev. Richard Pearson officiating from the United Methodist church. Burial will be in the East Side Cemetery in Estherville.

Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Chapel anytime until services on Friday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 6, 1971)
