Estherville – Services for Mrs. Susan (Peggy) Billings, 72, Estherville, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Christian Church, the Rev. Robert Kunz officiating. Interment will be in the East Side Cemetery. She died Sunday, Nov. 6, 1983 at her home.Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Susan Baker was born May 20, 1911 at Harvey, Iowa, the daughter of John Franklin and Sylvia (Cox) Baker. She attended Winterset School. On Jan. 13, 1930 she was united in marriage with Donald Billings at Fairmont, Minn. The couple farmed in Palo Alto County until 1936 when they moved into Estherville. Peggy was employed by the Gardston Hotel from 1941 to 1952 and the next 31 years worked for the Estherville Drug.
She was an active member of the Christian Church, and Past President of the Wa-tan-ye Club.
Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Sylvia Baker, Estherville; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Juanita) Mahin, Estherville and one son Donald Duane Billings, Estherville; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd Baker, Des Moines and Charles Baker, Estherville; three sisters: Mrs. Beulah Hassel, Mrs. Richard (Mary) Hanson and Mrs. Tony (Dorothy) Rhen all of Estherville.
She was preceded in death by her father, husband in 1954 and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 8, 1983)
