Ben Benda, 81, Dies Saturday
Ben Bruce Benda, 81, died early Saturday morning from a heart attack at his home in Estherville.He was born May 30, 1891, at Spirit Lake, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Benda.
He was married April 13, 1915, to Oma Davey at Spencer. They lived in Spirit Lake until 1930 when they moved to Estherville. He was employed for 26 year by P.G. Gray Co., until his retirement in 1956.
He was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his widow, three sons, Lyle of Port Angeles, Wash., Brent of Springfield, Mo., Donald of Buena, Wash.; a daughter, Mrs. Beaudale Zbleske, Estherville; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Grace Novak, Calmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Reese-Henry Funeral Home, the Rev. H. Allen Wirtz officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery. Friends may call anytime today until time of service on Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Hasbrook, Dean Clark, D.J. Novak, James Callahan, Ben Seeger and Merle Andre. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 10, 1972)
