Cora Farris
Estherville – Services for Cora Farris, 93, of Estherville, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, at the Good Samaritan Chapel with Reverend Virgil Anderson officiating. Burial will be held at East Side Cemetery. Visitation is from 9-10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Good Samaritan Chapel. Mrs. Farris died on July 2, 1990 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Cora Evelyn Farris was born on March 26, 1897 in Decorah to Robert Elwick and Alice Childs. She was married in LeMars on August 7, 1916 to Ed Farris. The couple farmed first in the Lone Rock area, then southwest of Wallingford, then near Terril. They last farmed west of Estherville, across from the Estherville Country Club for six years before moving into town in 1961. She has lived at the Good Samaritan Center since 1973. She was a member of the Christian Church.

Survivors include two daughter-in-laws, Mrs. Arminda Farris of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Mrs. Regina Farris of Estherville; two grandchildren, Lynnrae Kidd and Jay Warren of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four great grandchildren; foster grandson, Frank Purcell of Billings, Mont.; and two foster great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Harold and Earl. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 5, 1990)
