Ringsted – Services for Mrs. Julia Christina Engholm, 89, Ringsted will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Ringsted with Pastor Fred Boyce officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died Friday [February 5, 1982] evening at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home in Ringsted after 3 p.m. Monday.

Julia Christina Torkelson was born August 16, 1892 at Fort Dodge, the daughter of Andrew and Nellie Torkelsen. She was educated in the Fort Dodge schools; baptized and confirmed in St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. She was married to Arthur Engholm on May 29, 1912 at Fort Dodge. The couple farmed and lived in the Ringsted area until his death in 1934; she continued to live in the Ringsted area until seven years ago when she entered the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ringsted.

Engholm is survived by two sons, Wilbert Engholm, Bancroft and Ervin Engholm, Hemet, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Clara) Corderman, Armstrong and Mrs. Helen Helmers, Albert Lea, Minn.; 23 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren,.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, one brother and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 8, 1982)
