Estherville – Services for Ruth Ellis, 95 of Estherville will be held Wednesday, August 24, 1994 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Estherville with Dr. Fred Gee officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery in Estherville. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. She died August 20, 1994 at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg.

She was born January 23, 1899 in Westboro, Wis., the daughter of Henry Horton and Elenora Ella (Merrill) Curtis. She received her education in the rural schools in Taylor County, Wis.

She married Fred A. Ellis on June 28, 1922 at Austin, Minn. The couple moved to Estherville in July of 1922, where they lived their entire married life. Mr. Ellis died on August 31, 1950.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Estherville, charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and World War One Auxiliary, and member of the Eastern Star, North Star Chapter 200 in Estherville.

Survivors include two sons Francis H. Ellis of Emmetsburg and Duane A. Ellis of Spirit Lake, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter Twyla, one sister Rose and her parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 22, 1994)
