Rosetta Louise Godfrey Ellis 1862-1917

Rosetta Louise Godfrey was born in West Point, Wis., March 13, 1862. She passed away after a brief illness at Rochester, Minn., May 13th, 1917, at the age of 55 years and two months. She came to Emmet County, Ia about thirty-eight years ago, settling on a farm where she resided until she moved to Estherville. She was married to Frank L. Ellis of this city 26 years ago. To this union four children were born, there being three girls and one boy. All these survive her and were at the funeral expecting the youngest, Helen, who died two years ago at the age of ten years. Besides the three children and husband she leaves to mourn her departure two sisters and a large circle of friends.

The funeral service was held at the residence Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 conducted by Rev. J. S. Coffin, Minister of the Christian church of this city. The remains were laid to rest in the East Side cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, May 16, 1917)

Mrs. Frank Ellis Dies in Rochester Hospital
Sunday Mrs. Frank Ellis died in the Mayo hospital at Rochester of goiter and complications. Her husband and children were with her when death came. The body was brought back to Estherville Monday evening, and funeral held from the home Tuesday afternoon.

Deceased was a sister of Mrs. Warren Pullen and Mrs. Henry Pullen and was a very much beloved woman. She was a splendid mother, a devoted wife and kind neighbor.

The large attendance at the funeral and many beautiful floral offerings attested the love and esteem in which deceased was held in the community.

Rozzetta [Rosetta] Louisa Godfrey was born in West Point, Wisconsin, March 14 [13], 1862, died in Rochester, Minnesota, May 13, 1917, and hence was 55 years and 2 months of age at the time of her death. About thirty-eight years ago she was united in marriage to Frank L. Ellis. To this union four children were born, three daughters and a son, all of whom are living and reside in Estherville except the youngest daughter, Helen who passed to the Great Beyond two years ago this month at the tender age of ten years.

Besides her husband and three children she leaves to mourn her death two sisters, Mrs. Warren Pullen and Mrs. Henry Pullen. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, May 16, 1917)
