Estherville – Services for Pete Ehlers, 90, of Estherville, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Union Baptist Church in Estherville with Pastor Brian Perry officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery, Estherville. He died Sunday, May 12, 1996 at Good Samaritan Center, Estherville. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born June 9, 1903 [per SS Index 1905] at Stickney, S.D., the son of John and Julia (Teesdale) Ehlers. He attended rural school near Stickney. As a young man he worked in Washington, Nebraska, South and North Dakota before moving to Iowa in 1937. He married Katherine Petersen on Dec. 19, 1938 in Estherville. They spent most of their married life in Graettinger, Dolliver and Ringsted areas working for different farmers and retired in 1970 and moved to Estherville in 1971. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church in Estherville.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine, of Estherville; daughters, Mrs. Arlis (Evelyn) Lucht of Jackson, Minn. and Mrs. Dennis (Karen) Brosh of Wallingford; sons: Robert of Lakefield, Minn., David of Fairmont and Richard of Dolliver; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Catherine Markus, Corsica, S.D. and Helena Hines, Lake Preston, S.D., many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, one sister and five brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 15, 1996)
