Estherville – Services are pending for Charles Edwards, 80, of Estherville. He died Tuesday, March 24 at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 25, 1992)

Estherville – Services for Charles Vernon Edwards, 80, will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Estherville with the Rev. Dr. John P. Besore III and Rev. Rick Capps officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91.

Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.

He was born May 4, 1911 at Carmen, Ill., the son of James and Hilda (Carlson) Edwards and at an early age moved with his family to a farm near Halfa. He attended Halfa School graduating in 1930. He served as a medic during World War II in New Guinea and the Philippines, serving in the U.S. Army from 1942-45. In December, 1947, he married Hazel Juhl at Estherville. She died in 1951. On June 14, 1953 he was united in marriage with Artis (Partello) Misener at Estherville. He was employed by the City of Estherville at the Power Plant from 1958 until retiring in 1976.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church; V.F.W. Post No. 3388; A.A.R.P. and Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Artis, Estherville; one daughter Patricia Edwards, Tampa, Fla.; one step-daughter, Linda Spoerry, Pittsburg, Pa.; one step-son, Terry Misener, Columbia, S.D.; a step-grandson, Chris Misener; one brother, Raymond Edwards, Armstrong; two sisters, Thelma Dunham, Cincinnati, Ohio and Lillian White, Topeka, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Hazel and one brother, Wilmont. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 26, 1992)
