Estherville – Graveside services for Alice S. Hausner Tupper Doughty, 83, of Wayne, N.J. and formerly of Estherville, will be held Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 1 p.m. at Eastside Cemetery, Estherville. Pastor Dan Swanson of the Union Baptist Church will officiate.Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Werness Brothers Funeral Chapel, 3700 Nicolett Avenue South, Minneapolis.
Doughty passed away Dec. 2 at Lutheran Diocese Hospital, Minneapolis.
She was born to W.M. Hausner and Mable C. Nichols on Jan. 30, 1898 in Twelve Mile Lake Township. She married Fred Tupper on March 9, 1918 in Estherville. After his death she married Frank Doughty on Feb. 6, 1960.
She operated a nursing home in Estherville from 1947 until the mid 1950’s. She taught piano and organ for over 40 years. She also was active in music and Sunday School activities at Union Baptist and Calvary Baptist Churches.
She later lived with her son and daughters in Minneapolis and had moved to New Jersey with her son. She was visiting family and friends in Iowa and Minnesota at the time of her death.
The family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Sudan Interior Mission. Gifts may be sent to Gene Tupper, 165 Hillcrest Dr., Wayne, N.J.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Robert T. (Evelyn) Lord and Mrs. Albert (Carol) Liefert, both of Minneapolis; a son, Eugene F. Tupper, Wayne, N.J.; a brother, Ralph Hausner, Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; a sister, Zola Warren, Rapid City, S.D.; five grandsons and one graddaughter.
