Estherville – Services for Richard N. Christensen, 70, will be held Saturday, January 15, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Estherville with the Rev. David Wendel officiating. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery. He died Thursday, January 13, 1994 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital at Spirit Lake.

Visitation was held on Friday evening at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

He was born March 6, 1923 at West Bend, the son of Chris and Petrea (Jensen) Christensen. He attended country school and West Bend Community School. Following school he began farming in the West Bend area. On November 26, 1943 he was united in marriage with Dorthey Bevard at Fairmont, Minn. The couple continued to farm there until 1948 when they moved to Estherville and he was a farm manager for Grieg and Co. In 1963 they moved to Olivia, Minn. where he was a farm manager until 1974 when they returned to Estherville and he worked for Estherville Sand and Gravel until retiring.

Survivors include his wife, Dorthey of Estherville; son Ricahrd E. Christensen of Oakdale, Minn.; daughter, Mrs. Michael (Peggy) Walters of Boyd, Minn.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three brothers, Frank and Leo Christensen of West Bend and George Christensen of Fort Dodge; two sisters Irene Gearhart, West Bend and Iona Lillivik, Emmetsburg.
